2020 NEP, New Education Policy for this nation received a big nod from union cabinet just recently. And soon after that eminent personalities form the field of education gave in their views on the new education policy.

Work towards forming the new education policy, 2020 NEP, began during the first tenure of union cabinet under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

2020 NEP2020 NEP witnessed completion this year and got a nod also from the union cabinet which was formed for second time under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

As for 2020-NEP, educationists from south India have welcomed with open heart.

Many of them said the 2020 NEP which has come after a gap of 30 years is quite practical in its approach.

The biggest point the educationists have expressed is that the 2020 NEP will actively contribute towards bringing down the drop out rates.

Many educationists in the country have been vouching for reducing the drop out rates in our education system.

The aspect of providing vocational training to school students from 6th standard onwards in the 2020 NEP has earned a special praise from education experts.

This will make Skill India concept of Prime Minister Narendra Modi turn into a reality.

Going a step further the vocational training would implant students with required skills even as they complete their 10th standard.

Equipped with required skills, students can confidently consider the option of self employment. This will help students brighten their earning.

Vice president of Vellore Institute of Technology praised the 2020 NEP with regards to the flexibility in graduation scheme.

As per the 2020 NEP, if a student choses to vacate after studying a year in graduation, he or she would get a certificate.

Similarly, students who move out after second year completion in graduation would be awarded with a diploma.

Degree would be awarded if students complete all the three years. The facility of studying a graduation for four years has also been included in the 2020 NEP.

2020 NEPOn completion of four years, students would be given a master’s degree, said Sekhar Viswanathan. The fine point in 2020 NEP is government spending 6 percent of GDP on education.

Secretary of Chennai region of DAV Schools Vikas Arya while welcoming 2020 NEP he said there should be clarity the option of how education in mother tongue would be implemented.

Also, there is no clarity as to what are the options for those who get educated in their native states and move to other states in search of employment, he said.

Professor Narayan Raju of Hindi Department at Central University of Tamil Nadu praised the attention given to students of classes 1 to 5.

There is another fine point in this 2020 NEP, the concept of lateral entry at graduation and post graduation is praiseworthy.

This scheme in 2020 NEP will make things a lot easier for the higher education enthusiasts. This will ensure higher education is accessible to more students.

Vice-chancellor of SRM Institute of Science and Technology Dr. Sandeep Sancheti said 2020 NEP has come after a gap of 34 years.

Though lot of committees were formed earlier, work of forming education policy did not witness progress, he said.

The 2020 NEP will bring in a steep change in the education sector which would also prove beneficial to the economy of this country, he said.

NEP focuses on nation building, gives scope for students to study subjects of their choice and also paves way for multi-disciplinary studies.

2020 NEPFormer regional director of National Institute of Open Schooling P. Ravi said NEP stresses on education of children in the classes 1 to 5 along with recruitment and training of teachers.

The NEP gives enough room for vocational training in schools itself which will in the longrun fulfill the dream Skill India.

Government has done its due by bringing out the NEP, the onus lies on teachers and educational institutions to implement the policy and pass on the benefits to students, he said.
